“Would love to hear you at 82 Leonard, with your Golden tongue” Marianne’s Last Comment On My Facebook Page

goldent2I was honored to have Marianne Ihlen, who died July 28, 2016, as a reader of my Leonard Cohen posts. She was especially gracious to me, writing to provide information or (kindly) correct errors. She also commented on specific posts. The last Facebook comment Marianne made on a Cohencentric post is shown above, dated July 14, 2016.

To Leonard’s declaration, “I would love to hear me [singing] at 82,” Marianne wrote

That phrase echos Marianne’s recollection, “My grandmother said I will meet a man who speaks with a tongue of gold”1

    Thanks for sharing this.
I feel as if a part of my early life has gone; terrifying to speculate on how bereft Mr C must be feeling.

It is so sad she will not hear him singing at the age of 82.may she rest in peace. I am so sad for Leonard. He will have the memories forever. Thank you for posting Allen.

I read he said he was right behind her and if he took hold of her hand…. Please wait a bit, Leonard. My heart can’t take it and I’m selfish.
