Marta Liwska writes:

I’m excited to let you know that Polish edition of “Popular Problems” (in Empik stores only) will be accompanied by a booklet with Polish translation by Daniel Wyszogradzki (famous translator of BoL and LC’s friend) Here you are my imperfect translation of the Empik note:

Leonard Cohen is giving away gifts to Polish fans For long ago Leonard Cohen has conquered and settled in the hearts Polish good music lovers fans. The artist himself also liked Poland – from the tour in 2008, he visited our country many times. Now, to celebrate the release of his new album, Cohen prepared for Polish fans a surprise. To the album “Popular problems” purchased from empik.com, a booklet with Polish translations of all the songs from the album will be added. Poland is a country in which Leonard Cohen is extremely popular – it’s worth recalling at least the album “Ten New Songs”, which in 2001 was the best-selling foreign album (reached the Diamond Record status) and the hit “In My Secret Life”, played by all the radio stations by the Vistula River. From now on, every new record of nearly 80-year-old Canadian was a major cultural event, joining the iconic artist’s position from the 70s, 80s or 90s. Advanced age is not turned off even a little bit of his humor or not dulled brilliant insights, placed in the lyrics for the following albums. Recently, two years ago at the Double Platinum album “Old Ideas”. Polish fans adoration is not one-sided – from when he started touring in 2008, he visited Poland several times. By the way, the latest studio album – “Popular Problems”, on sale from September 23 – Poles can also expect special, available only in Poland attractions. The first Issue of discs available in salons and by empik.com empik will be sold together with an additional booklet containing Polish translations of all the songs from the album. Translations have been made by a good friend of the artist, journalist and translator of his poems Daniel Wyszogrodzki and the whole process has been overseen by Cohen himself with his managers, as evidenced by the special autograph, artist placed in the booklet. It will be available only with a CD and only while the first Issue.

“It’s the Leonard Cohen of old, only with the added joy of how wonderful his voice has become.” For The Rabbits Review of Popular Problems

Poetic and filthy in equal measures, crooning over a buzzing stage-organ with horns straight out of Hey Big Spender, in many ways it’s the Cohen of old, only with the added joy of how wonderful his voice has become.quotedown2
