It’s quite clear that there is something deeply dysfunctional going on. We are in the midst of the deluge. The landmarks have been extinguished, people are holding on to little orange crates and spars and broken sticks; and political dialogue is deeply irrelevant to the heart, although we can’t abandon it. We see it in the administration of President Clinton. Everyone wishes him well, but we know that nothing’s going to change because there has been a psychic catastrophe.
